Stalker Cop Cannot Open File Fsgame.ltx
Everytime i try to launch it i get the message 'cannot open file fsgame.ltx' i tried fixing this by putting shadow of chernobyl's fsgame.ltx in the lost alpha directory which made it launch but with a black screen.
Any help would be appreciated. Unfortunately there are no guides that I could find on how to install CoC 1.4, any videos or written instructions I came across only related to previous versions that used the installer would be great if someone could explain how to install 1.4 after downloading the files. EDIT: FIXED, was being really stupid and not making a proper shortcut for the launcher from CoP, game now runs fine, but I have run into new problem with modding.
I'm sure there's quite a few things I could go and try, but I don't particularly want to go messing around with files or my PC if it's nothing related to issues with those. Any help would be appreciated.
But today I get this error. I really don't know what can be the problem. But thanks very much for the advice!:). Falloutttt: Hello Stalkers! I have been playing SOC and COP time to time and dint had any problems till today. When I start the game, it gives an error saying: 'the file fsgame.ltx is corrupted (it contains duplicated lines) please reinstall the game or fix the problem manually.'
The first time around, I installed Questlines first and then Dynamic Faction Relations (as listed in the ReadMe) but that caused the game to not start (I just hear the Windows critical error sound and it doesn't launch at all). I tried then just installing Questlines, but that caused the same thing to happen. I'm guessing it's doing something to the config files that the game doesn't like, or perhaps I'm missing other stuff that it needs to function. Do you need to install ALL of the DoctorX mods - both faction relations mods, Questlines, etc.
Is it simply a case of dragging and dropping the contents of the gamedata folder from the AO download into the CoC gamedata folder, or do you need to do something else/differently? Yeah sorry, that post was a bit chaotic. After I posted it, I went through the mods, installing one and then seeing if the game would run. Arsenal Overhaul works absolutely fine, but it's the DoctorX Questlines that seems to be causing problems. The first time around, I installed Questlines first and then Dynamic Faction Relations (as listed in the ReadMe) but that caused the game to not start (I just hear the Windows critical error sound and it doesn't launch at all).
Contents • • • • • Getting started Modding S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Is a rewarding experience because it allows you to bend the extremely atmospheric game to your will. With enough patience and will power, (Knowing Russian helps) you can figure out how to change the most complex 'settings' in the game to fit your new world. However, we are not at that step yet. We are going to start nice and simple and work our way up through other tutorials. You will need quite a few tools before you begin on your first mod.
I suspect the issue is to do with modifying the gamedata folder for AO, but I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I checked the fsgame.ltx file and it has 'true - true' for the gamedata line, which afaik is correct. Is it simply a case of dragging and dropping the contents of the gamedata folder from the AO download into the CoC gamedata folder, or do you need to do something else/differently?
Call of Chernobyl is a free-play sandbox mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat created by TeamEPIC. Ok, so I've downloaded the CoC 1.4 files and extracted them into their own folder (currently it's sat in an area of my Documents folder) and I have CoP installed on Steam. I'm trying to launch the game using the xrEngine shortcut from the 'bin' folder, the 'Call of Chernobyl' launch image appears, but then I get an fatal error message saying 'Cannot open fsgame.ltx. Check your working folder.' I'm probably just doing something wrong here - or haven't done something I needed to - but I have no idea what.
- Shadow of Chernobyl (X for your drive letter) and call this new folder gamedata. If you have not already browsed through your gamedata_original folder, do so now. So many files and sub-directories! Whenever you edit a file, Notepad ++ will create a.bak of the original in the folder it was edited so you always have the file as it was when it worked (or before changes). To make this.bak work, all you must do is rename the extension back to.ltx or whatever it was before. If you can't see extensions and are on Windows XP, open up a folder and go to Tools - Folder Options and click on the View tab.
What causes the ltx file to not work properly? I'm sure there's quite a few things I could go and try, but I don't particularly want to go messing around with files or my PC if it's nothing related to issues with those.
As the edit above says, I have fixed the launch issue so the game now runs fine, but I've encountered another problem. I tried adding the DoctorX Questlines, Dynamic Faction Relations and Arsenal 3.1 mods, but the game won't launch properly.

Unlocks Throbb in Dr. Badger's inventory. (if Bimbofied Penny) Note: If Steele has been transformed before by Dr. Badger in the Bimbotorium, Steele will constantly be reverted back into a badger form while on this quest. Also, the scenes will vary based on if Steele and Penny's transformation history. Trail in tainted space wiki.

Greetings, ive downloaded the game in a mere minutes, but im in third hour of trying to fix this.Reinstalled the game couple of times but errror is still there. 3 years ago when it was released i installed it exact same way, then i did the same few months ago.No problems whatsoever. Right now im losing hope and nerves, googled past the frist page and it still doesnt work.I tried couple of possible solutions, deleting user,fs,bring it back again and shit, still doesnt work.
- all in the correct order for any of them to work, or is that order just for if you have more than one of them, so that you end up overwriting the correct files in the right order? Hope that makes more sense than my last post. EDIT: on a side note, I swear I've seen you on the Misery forums in a semi-official capacity. Still haven't found a solution, any help would be very much appreciated Edited.
Themken: Hmm, maybe a fault in the memory or hard disk corrupted the file? That can be caused by misbehaving power levels too (too low or too high voltage, too little or too much electricity) so the RAM/HD not necessarily broken.
-It's under the 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl' folder and I've found it. -It's an 'LTX File'. Do I open it in Notepad? That's what I did so far. -If I DO open it in Notepad, when I change 'false' to 'true' then press 'Save' I get this error popping up: 'Cannot create the C:/Program Files/THQ/S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Browse first to gamedata_original config and copy system.ltx to your STALKER gamedata config folder. Open it up and you should see something like this.

There are a total of 3 lines of code that need to be edited to make the new weight limit official. 2 of them are in actor.ltx and one of them is in system.ltx: • C: Program Files THQ S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl gamedata config creatures actor.ltx • C: Program Files THQ S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl gamedata config system.ltx You see now both of these files have gamedata config in common, so browse to your STALKER gamedata folder which is looking very empty right now, and create a new folder called config inside. System.ltx will land right in there, but actor.ltx goes a bit deeper. Create another folder inside config and name it creatures. Keep the gamedata folder open and go to the gamedata_original folder.

Themken: Hmm, maybe a fault in the memory or hard disk corrupted the file? That can be caused by misbehaving power levels too (too low or too high voltage, too little or too much electricity) so the RAM/HD not necessarily broken. Some malware can play havoc. File/s ever so slightly corrupted while downloaded and the problems did not manifest until now? I cannot think of anything else. But I also have clear sky and it works fine. But I never started clear sky before today.
Here the solution. STEPS: Go to 'fsgame.ltx' and open the file with Notepad.
- Shadow of Chernobyl/fsgame.ltx file. Make sure that the patch and file name are correct' So what do I do to get it to change to 'true' and successfully save? I'm running on Vista 32-bit, if that has any relevance. Tell me if I didn't include any information. I'm thinking I'm just missing something small to get this to work.
Uncheck hide extensions for known file types. Editing your first file Notepad++ and Windows Notepad are only capable of editing essentially word files. These extensions include and and. Puch moped manual. (Notepad++ handles.xml and.script files much cleaner than Windows Notepad) An easy first change to STALKER is changing how much you can carry, your weight limit. When STALKER was first released there were mods that were entirely based on just doing that. It isn't any big mystery how it's done now, but it is still sometimes done improperly.
