There seems to be quite a few people having problems installing the Xbox One Controller drivers, myself included. The drivers show up as not installed. There is a solution which I found through a bit of research and luck. As there weren't many tutorials online for it so I decided to do one myself. It worked for me but I can't guarantee it will work for everyone and I am not a system tech.
The controller is one of the finest control pads ever designed. The same goes for the we just reviewed. But one flaw compared to Xbox 360 controllers is that Xbox One controllers don’t work on computers and tablets. It throws the following error: The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation. Instantly I wanted to do some dirty edits to the file to add the flags and lines required for it to be supported, however before I did something so absolutely and utterly stupid as to make manual edits to driver software without any knowledge whatsoever on the subject, I decided to take the device manager for a test run. Here's what I did: • Load up Device Manager • Find the unidentified device on the list (will have a yellow error triangle) • Click, 'update driver' • Click, 'browse my computer for driver software' • Click, 'let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer' • Then Click, 'Have Disk', and instead of selecting a disk drive, click browse • Find the IMF file that you downloaded from the Update Catalog, select it, and click Open. The device drivers should install correctly now, and you'll be able to play your nerdy games with no dirty edits to the file.

I'm not exactly sure how to get the drivers to disappear completely because whenever I uninstall them, they seem to install the same ones I just uninstalled, even when I use the 'Have Disk' feature. It should also be noted that manually disabling driver signature enforcement is only good for one reboot versus the script or command-line method which is a more permanent approach towards disabling signature enforcement. Or if you no longer care about authenticity and just want to get that ultra cheap controller working then you can simply cut the cable on that joystick and add the USB cable right onto it. You could just wire twist them on and shrink tube it together, or solder it together and then use shrink tube (preferred). Does not matter so long as the cabling is secure as we don’t want this to come apart as we’re playing a game. After a while I found that my crucial mistake had been that I from the Update Catalog had downloaded the driver version with 'x86' architecture instead of 'AMD64'. In the spur of the moment before picking which driver to download I had a quick misconception that x86='Intel processor', and AMD64='AMD processor'. And because I have an Intel processor, I therefore selected the (32-bit) 'x86'-download by mistake, instead of the 64-bit option correct in my case. (btw, this would never had happened in the first place if they had just written 'x64' instead of 'AMD64'). So, when I did eventually download and install the AMD64-version of the driver from the update catalog, everything with the installation went smoothly and afterwards the device has been working great, just like it should be:-).
After a few seconds of searching, your Xbox controller should show up. Click it to pair. And you're wirelessly connected!
